HubSpot has rolled out a new public beta that lets admins customize the title card at the top of CRM records, and I think this is one of those seemingly small updates that is going to make a meaningful difference for teams with more customized HubSpot portals.
Until now, HubSpot determined which properties appeared in that prominent area at the top of a record. You could customize the cards underneath it, but the title area itself was largely fixed.
With the Customizable Title Card on CRM Records beta, admins can now add up to five custom properties to that space, so the information your team cares about most can be visible immediately.
And I already have a client use case that demonstrates exactly why this matters.
When Important CRM Data Has Nowhere Good to Go
One of my clients has a group of high-value target accounts, and their team needs to be able to recognize those accounts immediately when looking at a contact record.
They had been accomplishing this by putting the client’s tier directly into the contact name.
I understand why.
When your team needs a piece of information to be immediately visible, you find a way to make it visible.
But using the name field for something that isn’t actually part of someone’s name creates problems.
In this case, the tier eventually made its way into personalized emails because HubSpot quite reasonably assumed that everything stored in the contact’s name field was, well, their name.
So customers could receive emails with their account tier included in the personalization.
Not a great customer experience.
And definitely not good CRM data hygiene.
The alternative was to store tier in its own property, which is where it belongs, but that meant using valuable space elsewhere on the record to make sure the sales team could see it.
This beta solves that problem nicely.
Now the Most Important Information Can Actually Be at the Top
With the new title card customization, I can surface Client Tier directly at the top of the contact record.
I can also show Contact Owner right alongside it.
That means the team can open a record and immediately see two of the things they care about most:
- Is this a high-value target?
- Who owns the relationship?
And because those properties no longer need to take up prime real estate in the cards underneath, we can use that space for other information.
That’s exactly the kind of CRM customization I like.
The data stays structured correctly, the user experience gets better, and we’re not inventing workarounds just to make important information visible.
This Is Especially Useful for Customized HubSpot Portals
For a very simple CRM, HubSpot’s default record layout may be perfectly adequate.
But the more customized a company’s sales, marketing, service, or operational processes become, the less likely it is that HubSpot’s default set of prominent properties happens to match what the team actually needs.
A salesperson might need to see territory, customer tier, renewal date, or product immediately.
A service team may care about support level or customer status.
An account manager might need to see account type and owner before anything else.
And companies using custom objects may have entirely different pieces of information that define what’s important about a record.
Until now, admins could customize much of the record layout while this highly visible area remained relatively inflexible.
So yes, I think this was a much-needed change in HubSpot.
How the New HubSpot Title Card Works
Admins can customize the title card from HubSpot’s record or preview customization settings.
You can add up to five custom properties in addition to HubSpot’s default information.
The customization carries through to both the full CRM record and the preview sidebar, which is particularly useful because users don’t always open the full record when they’re working.
HubSpot has also moved tags into the highlight card for Deals, Tickets, Custom Objects, and other objects that support them, making important status information easier to see.
And if you don’t customize anything, HubSpot simply continues displaying the existing default properties.
The beta is available across all HubSpot hubs and subscription tiers.
HubSpot Customizable CRM Record Title Cards: Why This Beta Matters
This is one of the reasons I pay attention to updates that might seem relatively minor.
A customizable title card isn’t as flashy as a new AI agent or a major new HubSpot product.
But changes like this can eliminate the little compromises teams have been making for years because HubSpot didn’t give them quite enough flexibility.
In my client’s case, we’re replacing a workaround that compromised data quality and occasionally created a poor customer experience with a properly structured property that’s actually more visible to the people who need it.
That’s a win all around.
And if your HubSpot portal has become highly customized over time, I’d take a look at this beta. There are probably a few properties your users would benefit from seeing the moment they open a record.
